Thanksgiving in Kinder!!

Our first ever kindergarten family feast was a huge success!! I was so excited to see so many families here to celebrate! We are soo thankful for you!!

Here's some pics I snapped of the families that came for our fun event!

I know I've done a pretty terrible job updating these last couple of weeks. November creeped up on me out of the blue. We've been busy, busy working on many things in class! Hopefully I can find some time to blog about it soon!!

Thank you for making our Thanksgiving lunch feast so amazing!! You children are so lucky to have you!

Take a guess!

Here's a sneak peak to the fun we're having this week in K-6!

Any guesses? To be honest, I'm not completely sure what we're going to do with this but I can promise you it will be fun!

Community Helpers

We have had such a great time meeting all kinds of community helpers!!

Here's a peek at some of out guests:

The firemen...

A vet (complete with snake!)

A doctor...

A teacher (Hannah's mom is a 1st grade teacher at CWE!)

And a coach (Hannah's dad!)

And an FBISD police officer with his partner Magnum D.I.!!

Each of them was so great! I especially loved getting to see each guests personality and how they use that in their job. (playing with Magnum was lots of fun too!)

I could tell you what all they talked to us about but why don't you ask your kids about it?! :)

Sweetest kids on Earth!

As some of you may know I was out on Friday with a very sick pup.  She somehow managed to get a hold of vitamins and swallowed nearly 300! Long story short...

I am very thankful she is still in my life. She still has some follow up appointments but the vets are optimistic that everything will be ok.

I am SO thankful for community helpers, especially vets this week!

I am also thankful for Mrs. Gonzalez who stepped in for the day when a sub never showed. (It's very hard to find a sub on Fridays, especially when it's very last minute and unplanned.) They had a great day doing what we do in here! Mrs. Gonzalez is the BEST!

I am also thankful for my sweet kinders.  When I went up to school on Friday afternoon to check on things and get the treats for the firemen I found the best surpise!

Everyone had written get well soon cards for Millie! It was so thoughtful!

A couple of the sweet cards and pictures.
And here's the patient...
I had to draw a Double T on her red bandage for the game this weekend...sadly, it didn't help.
I'll be back soon with updates on all our COMMUNITY HELPER visits!

SLFD

On Tuesday we had a visit from these nice folks

I don't know about the kids but I loved it!!! I had never seen a truck up close and personal like this before! First we went outside to check out their wheels...

Fireman Dave took us around the truck and showed us each part.

The fire hose. It was HEAVY! You have to be strong to be a firefighter!

He showed us all the side compartments where the water gauges are and the tools they use and even the jaws of life!

I loved how perfectly folded those hoses were!

We even got to walk through the truck!

Then we headed inside to hear more about their job itself from these cute friendly firemen.

They talked about fire safety and told everyone to go home and have a fire drill with their parents. Did y'all do that?? One interesting thing they told us was to throw toys, pillows, blankets, anything we can find out our window if there's a fire and we can't get out the bedroom door. Seeing all those things will tell the firefighters there are people (children esp) inside that need help!

We practiced stop, drop, and roll and then Fireman Bobby put on all his gear!

The boots are connected to the pants so they can get them on quickly.

They said it's very important not be be afraid if the fireman if you were ever in a fire. He put on his mask and airpack and sounded just like Darth Vader! Looked a little like him too!

It was such a great visit from the SLFD! I think we may have some future firefighters on our hands!

We wrote them a thank you note and I plan to deliver it with snacks and treats tomorrow!

We are SO thankful for the fire department and all they do to keep us safe!
